Why I Started The Artemis Council: A Personal Mission for Families Affected by Addiction
In my journey through addiction, recovery, and rebuilding, one truth stayed with me: the people most impacted by my darkest moments were my children.
That’s why I founded The Artemis Council—a nonprofit focused on supporting children of addicted parents. It’s deeply personal. It was born from regret, reflection, and a desire to make sure other families have the resources and support that mine didn’t during the hardest years of my life.
Before becoming who I am today—Wess Burgner, father, psychology student, business owner and nonprofit founder—I was Wesley Burgner or Wes Burgner, a man who lost everything in a year-long spiral fueled by untreated grief and alcoholism. I’ve spent every day since working to make up for the past, not just for my children, but for anyone who’s ever felt the ripple effects of addiction.
The Artemis Council is one way I do that.
